How are you today? Last week I have send you a video about how to handle creativity. Was the concept of “creativity and the universe” helpful for you? Could you already have another perspective on your creativity when you was creating a dance?
As you might know I help dancers to create their own choreographies and prepare for important shows or competitions. Many times my students tell me that the main obstacle that she encounters when creating for example a drumsolo is that she hears so many sounds at the same time: Rhythms, accents, shimmy’s effects…
Then she get’s so distracted by all that sounds that she does not know what to follow anymore in the music. Choices, choices, choices.
Then I help her to understand the structure of the drumsolo and how to focus on the music, by explaining her how to listen to the music, what movements go with certain sounds and what is the structure of the drumsolo.
I thought that maybe you can relate to this?!
So I decided, let’s make a video about this subject, explaining a bit about the prinicple of listening to the music and (as I promised in my previous letter) I made a small “dance along” combination for you. It’s on the drumsolo music “Magic Fingers” of Amir Sofie, amirsofie.com.

I can’t wait to explain you more about this and help you step by step how to create your own amazing drumsolo. Enjoy this video and I love to hear what you think about it!
