As you may know or not know, it took me a long time to get the Egyptian shimmy into my body. I really had too much tension in my legs. I was really wondering: how for heavens sake is this ever going to work with me? Happily after a year, my body connected to the movement I wanted it to make. It even took me a while to get it done on the stage. It was a whole process of trying and training, you see?

I see the same happening with my students in my bellydance school in Amsterdam. Sometimes they also struggle with finding the relaxation in the leg muscles in order to get a good Egyptian shimmy. In that case I  share with them the points that helped me. Mostly after a while they happily succeed.

This inspired me to create this video for you in which I give you 4 tips that can help you too to get the relaxation into your Egyptian Shimmy.

PS: in the online drumsolo course that I created with Yassir Jamal, which is coming up, I will also talk about some different shimmies.

PS 2: On October 8th at 20:00 h (European time) I teach a FREE online workshop that only 20 people can follow. Soon more info about this special event!
